It's Beginning to Feel Like Christmas?

I don't know about most of you but it DOES NOT feel like Christmas is a week away! I can't believe it! I am feeling a little stressed because I still have several presents to make before Christmas! Augh!

Well, I hope your list is a little more finished than mine. I think that the main reason it doesn't feel like Christmas is because it is SO warm here! It has snowed only twice since the middle of October and it's remained about 30-40 degrees around here instead of covered in snow and FREEZING!

Anyway, I better get back to sewing... TTFN!

Yay! School it out!

Yay! I am so so so very happy that I am done with school for the semester. It as a CRAZY week last week, but everything is done now.

Here are a couple of updates:

1) I am planning on putting more tea towels in the shop soon!

The new ones are going to include: Bible Verses, Valentines Day items, and more Sewing sayings. Be on the the lookout!

2) We have a new member of our family: Missy (or Lil' Miss)
We have been looking for another Boston Terrier to be a playmate for our dog, Pepper. This dog has had a really turbulent life and so she is trying to get adjusted to all of us but she is super cute.

3) I am considering moving to Facebook. I am considering doing this because I feel like it would give Dynamic Crumbs a wider audience. Do you agree? Leave a comment!

Things You Should Know: Machine Maintenance and Repairs

As a few of you know, I have had machine troubles lately. Thankfully, they are both working now (working very hard since I use them every day). When my Baby Lock (awesome machine by the way) went down I took it to my local sewing center. When my Singer broke too I tried to take it to the sewing center as well.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) for me the sewing center didn't take Singer brands because they were certified to work on them. Well, in a mad panic (more or less, probably more) I phoned my mother and told her than I needed help finding SOMEBODY to fix my (insert name calling words here) Singer. Well, from what I found the nearest certified Singer repair place was about two and a half hours away. Well, that wouldn't work.

Thankfully, when my mother came home she had discovered that Hancock Fabrics had a local repair man that could fix it in about a week. Well, to make a long story short, the repair at Hancock's was faster and cheaper than the sewing center. Plus, I had a few more problems and the repair man made a house call to my place on a Saturday. Awesome! I will be bringing him my machines in the future because of the fabulous service. So my suggestion/helpful hint for today would be to check your local fabric shop and see if they know any repair people, you never know.

Shop Announcement: Cyber Monday

Special announcement! I FINALLY HAVE MY SEWING MACHINE BACK!!!! YAY! Confetti, dancing in the streets, parades....well, at least it's like that in my head.

I am super excited (if you couldn't tell) to have my machine back. Also, be on the look out for a special coupon for the shop on Cyber Monday!!

Craft Sale

I had the craft sale last weekend. Special shout out to Laura and Jodie for coming to see me. Other than that the sale was really a bummer.

The weather was really cold and nasty so I don't think that a lot of people were willing to be out in the cold. So I did okay sales-wise but it could have been better.

Special thanks to my mom for sticking it out with me! (I seriously owe her a coffee!)

My dog is officially spoiled rotten!

Normally my dog will eat whatever you happen to offer him, with the exception of a few vegetables. In fact, he has become quite good at begging. He will stare at you with his big brown eyes weakening your resistance. If that doesn't work then he sniffs sadly at your knees. Failing that, he will lay his chin on your leg with a plop.

The other day we had dinner at McDonald's and had a few leftover chicken nuggets. We put them in the fridge. Yesterday, my sister went to give Pepper, our dog, a treat and she remembered that there were chicken nuggets in the fridge.

Normally Pepper just gobbles up any kind of Chicken. Well when Emily went to give him a nugget he simply took it from her and set it on the floor.

This confused my sister and she asked my dad what was wrong with Pepper. To make a long story short, Emily had to warm the Chicken nuggets up in the microwave before the dog would eat any Chicken nuggets. So in short, our dog is spoiled rotten. :)

New Addiction: The Fat Quarter Shop

So as most of you know...I have an addiction.

That addiction is fabric. In fact, I used to laugh when people said that they loved just to feel fabric. I would think "That's CRAZY!" But now...I completely get it!

I was reading a blog the other day and they were having a giveaway from The Fat Quarter Shop. Well, I started to browse and much to my surprise they had a lot of fabric that I liked. Still some of it was a bit out my price range, but who doesn't like to dream. Anyway, some of my favorite pieces are:

The Orange Mr. Monopoly fabric
(which comes in many different colors! Yay!)

The Brambleberry Ridge Turquoise Knots and Loops
(So pretty)

30's playtime Betty's Pink Cherries
(I have seen this is on a blog where the lady made hankies out of it. Again, super cute!)

Hope you enjoyed feeding the addiction. What are some of your favorite pieces??

I loved the illustrations. I was surprised at how many I recognized.

The book is only $5! I'm going to have to get my own copy!

Plus, the best part is Diane Muldrow, the author, has many more books just like this!

The difference between sick and **sick**

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have been sick recently. Including but not limited to a lovely trip to the ER, being very tired, and trying to keep up with homework.

It is a lot different to be sick as an adult than it is to be **sick** as a kid. By that I mean, I remember when it was kind of fun to be sick when I was little because I got to stay home from school and eat milkshakes at Grandma's house and watch PBS Kids all day. Now, being sick isn't so much fun. In fact, it really stinks! Whenever I get sick, and thankfully it isn't often, Thank you Jesus! I feel like I get so behind. I get behind in homework, work, and school. Plus, I truly do feel sick and mostly want to just be in bed all day. YUCK!

Well, on the bright side, I am feeling much better and I am slowly catching up on homework. So life is looking up. And the funny things, for being in bed for three days, I don't feel that well rested. LOL. I just don't want to be sick again. Which I am sure you all understand, **wink** **wink**.

Anyway, I hope that you all are feeling fine and dandy so just thought I should let you know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth and I hope to some-what get back on the ball with posts.

Cute Etsy Shop: PillowCaseLove

I met this fellow Etsy seller at a sewing class at my local sewing machine store. We got talking about Etsy and how I sell Frozen Inspired Finger Puppets and she mentioned that she also had a shop! It was really neat to meet another person that sells on Etsy! I asked her if I could blog about her shop and she gave me permission so I hope that you all enjoy learning about another Etsy seller! Her shop is called PillowCaseLove.

Costume Idea

For work usually we dress up in costumes for Halloween. Sometimes I don't always have a great idea. But this year I think I do. I think I might try Rosie the Riveter.

I got this blue poka-dot scarf at the auction that we went it last week. I really like it! I think it would be great for a Rosie costume. I just need to find a blue collar shirt. What do you think?

Fabulous finds: Wall hangings

Do we went to an auction last week. I had a good time, but then again I always have a good time and auctions. While we were there there were some great deals and stuff is going pretty cheap.

I was looking for some picture frames and I found a few but there were some other wallhangings that I really liked. I decided to buy them and I hope you like them too.

Fabulous Finds

So I went to my neighbor's annual yard sale. They have a big yard sale every year and they usually have some awesome vintage things.

This year was no exception. I found some really neat stuff. Here's what I found.

A vintage cake tin! Awesome!

Mom's Quilt

I just wanted to share a quilt that I have finished. I made it for my mother. She really likes Sun Bonnet Sue so I decided that the perfect gift would be a quilt with Sun Bonnet Sue on it. I made it out of yellows and oranges and then had it quilted by a lady in Boise. On the back is a vintage sheet that found at a thrift store in my mother's home town. I hope you enjoy it as much as my mother and I do.

This is my favorite Sun Bonnet Sue! I choose to make all the characters have different skin tones. My mom really like that!

This is a picture of the binding. I decided to use a decorative stitch.

This is what the back of the quilt looks like

I used a vintage sheet for the backing.

Needle Storage

While attending an "I love to sew" club meeting I was introduced to another awesome idea for storage. A lady had taken a bead box and put her packets of needles into the individual compartments and labeled the compartments according to which needle was in which compartment.

Then using binder clips she put them on the needles she was currently using so that she could tell them apart and not use all her new ones.

I thought that it was a brilliant idea so I whipped one up myself using an old pony bead box. Works like a charm!

Happy Birthday Tolstoy!

Today is Leo Tolstoy's birthday! I really enjoy his writing. I have read Anna Karenina. I read this one on audio book which I think added a little personality to each character.

I started out reading it because it is a classic that I never had a chance to read. It was an awesome story! I liked it a lot better than a Tale of Two Cities but that was because there was a lot more description in Anna Karenina. I had a hard time reading it piece by piece in my car because I really just wanted to finish the story because it was so good. It is a very good read.

Also, I came across a children's book for Anna Karenina. I thought it was a kind of funny pick for a children's book but it is pretty good too! There is one page that I really like and it talks about her lace dress. Also a very good read!

EEK!! I haven't posted for about a week!

So sorry! I haven't forgotten you I have just been trying get everything figured out this week. As you might know, school started this week. My sisters both started at new school so things have been kind of hectic.

On the plus side, I have been enjoying my classes and I have already learned some new things. (I am planning on sharing an interesting fact later about the story "Little Red Riding Hood").

Ummm....I also am going to have the "mystery post" finished here soon. I hope you all are racking your brains to come up with an answer!

The weather has been crazy around here lately to the extent of rain, hail, and 80-90 degree weather. More on that later too.

Anyway, keep checking back and I am going to be posting more soon! TTFN

Book Review: Dear America Series "Christmas After All"

I love the Dear America Series! It is a wonderful way to get kids and possibly adults interesting in reading and/or interested in history.

If you have never read a Dear America book, I am really sorry! ;) They are really really well written. One of my all time favorite books is a Dear America book it's the diary of Anetka Kaminska during the mining boom in America. I have read it so often that I can pick it up, flip to any page, and know right where I'm at in the story.

Sadly, it is out of print. :( but my mom did buy it for me as a Christmas present one year so I can read it any time I want to! I usually don't buy a book because our local library has such a great selection. They have a lot of the Dear America books in the children's section.

The reason that I like these books so much is because they are geared towards 11-13 year-olds that are curious about history. I also like historical fiction because it brings history to life. I like having a personal perspective on a historical event. Plus, in reading books like these you can understand not just the event but also people's attitudes towards what's going on, cultural references that we wouldn't understand today, and a character that you have a personal connection with.

Anyway, I said all that to tell you about one of the latest Dear America books "Christmas After All: the diary of Minnie Swift (Indianapolis, Indiana, 1932).

The reason that I started reading this book is because I am fascinated with life in America during the depression into World War II. If we had time to sit down over a cup of coffee or tea I would tell you all about why I am fascinated because I have done a lot of studying about this period so I know quite a bit. ;) I have often said that if I had a time machine I would go back to the 1930s so that I could see it all unfold.

This book was really great! It talked about all sorts of interesting things. I also learned was Aspic was. Gross! But you'll have to read that for yourself!

It was fascinating how she talked about different people and how some handled losing all that they had and what the concerns of the adults in her life were. An awesome read! Pick it up and read it for yourself!

New Shopping Experience: Zibbit

I wanted to introduce all of you to a new way of shopping!

First of all, it's a lot like Etsy but it is called Zibbet!  Explore, take a look, buy! It is another venue for handmade and vintage items. I also wanted to give you a heads up and let you know that I have opened a shop on Zibbet. Same name and everything just a different platform. And if you are just comfortable using Etsy, then by all means, use Etsy. :)

Please note that the Zibbet shop doesn't have as many items as the Etsy one.
