Pinterest-be warned!

I have heard a lot of talk about this website clawed Pinterest; and, I'm sure that you have too. In my magazine for machine embroidery this month I saw a handy tip that said there was a really easy way to look and and see all the embroidery patterns that you have. Well, I was really interested since I figured that I have over 100 patterns. Plus the fact that there are some thy I've never even used. So I thought that this would be an easy site to use for creating new projects.

I haven't been on Pinterest for very long but it really is very useful. I have also seen some of the other things that other people have posted and been inspired. If you have a Pinterest thing let me know. I would love to take a look.

Craters of the Moon: Super Cold

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!

Since my family and I had the day off we decided to go and visit Craters of the Moon, since my sister, Emily, hadn't seen it yet.

It was a really good plan except for the fact that it was FREEZING!!!

Seriously, it was super cold. It was like 58 degrees and the wind sure wasn't helping anything. We did a little exploring. Like climbing up this hill.

(no not my picture: need to still figure out my new camera that I got for graduation, but as soon as I do I will post the pictures that I took)

We got to the top of what you can see in the picture, only to realize that there is a whole other mountain behind that that we would have to climb. Since it was so windy, we decided that getting to the top of that was enough accomplishment for today (plus the fact that we are all really out of shape).

So we spent the rest of our time there driving really slowly around the park and saying that we would come back when it was warmer to go hiking to all the neat little places that you could go look at.

On the other hand, I have been getting my exercise in. I went to the mall one day, walked for about 40 minutes and bought myself  a nice shirt (only cost me $10, again, will post pictures once I figure out my camera.), then stood at work all day Saturday. But unfortunately was sick on Sunday.

It was really weird but I think that it was mostly because I had finally relaxed from school. I felt okay if I was laying down but once I got up I felt really heavy, like I had a 12 pack of soda strapped to my feet and arms. I felt SO heavy. But today, I hiked up that mountain, so that must count for something. Going to try to go walking tomorrow if the weather is nice. If it isn't I am going to either go to the mall or SOMETHING. But I really am trying hard not to spend anymore money this month since I won't be getting any financial aid for the summer and it is going to cost me a chunk of change! Why do they make it so expensive anyway?

I also just remembered that I need to go to the church and take all my posters down since a new quarter is coming up. This time the theme is going to be a farm theme. I might just count that as my exercise since I need to take the posters down, put the chairs and little pulpit back into storage and get out some scenery for the next theme. It does take a little work, and it will be inside so I think that doing that will probably be my exercise for the day, plus I can always go for a walk too if I don't get much of a work out.

Pictures of everything to come. Promise!

Amazon Local Deal

Free Voucher to Purchase up to 25 Select Kindle Kids' Books from the Amazon Kindle Store for $2 Each

All you have to do to get this deal is sign up for Amazon local emails. It should be linked to your Amazon account.

Generally speaking, I'm not usually interested in the majority of their deals, but if you live in a bigger area this might work better. I have gotten books for a dollar, and even some MP3 music.

Enjoy!

My Book

Yay! So my book if FINALLY published. Okay...so it was published the last week of school. But hey! At least I am telling you about it.

Here's what it looks like:

It is completly and totally designed and written by me. Plus it was a lot of work (and a lot of fun) to make.

So there are two options that you can choose from:

The hardbound physical book, which will cost about $41.71. Yes, I know that that is a lot of money but I am not making any profit out of it. It is only the cost for the book. I am also not sure if that includes shipping. If you feel hesitant about it, just know that mine cost me about 48 dollars with express shipping.

OR

You can get the FREE E-BOOK version. I have already heard of a couple of people that have gotten this kind. It is really easy (and plus, I hope you go with this version as well ;)  )

Either way, you will have to create a free account with Blurb. But enjoy reading my life story. Feel free to leave NICE comments about it. Ha-ha-ha. Seriously though, if you don't like it, well, hey it was free anyway. Not that I would think that any of you guys WOULDN'T like my book. ;)

Thanks!

P.S. Maybe my book will inspire you to make your own!

Allergies, allergies, ACHOO!

Yuck! I hate allergies! I swear that I have blown my nose every five minutes today. It is ridiculous!!! I have even upped my allergy meds. but nothing seems to be working. My nose is running, my eyes are itchy, and my body even itches! Normally I have issues with my sinuses anyway but they've just been terrible lately!

Well, I exercised for 1/2 an hour yesterday, but I fell short today. I will get back on the ball tomorrow but I'm not going to worry about missing one day.

I had to take my sewing machine embroidery part to the sewing center to get it fixed because the arm for the embroidery part was rocking. I took it in yesterday but the guy who fixes the machines said that he couldn't find anything wrong with. So for the moment I can't do any embroidery. Oh, we'll, at least I can work on some other projects.

I am going to have to take my old car to get washed so that I can list it on Craig's List. By the way, for those of you who haven't heard already, I got a new car so I am selling my old one. My new one is really nice. So, if you know somebody who's looking for a car let me know. It is a '78 Buick, there isn't anything wrong with it. Just make us an offer. :)

I'm not sure of what else I'm going to get done during the rest of the week, since I am pretty tuckered out. TTFN!

2 week summer vacation

For the moment, school is officially out. Well...at least it is out for a couple of weeks for me.

I am going to be taking some summer classes to give me a boost with my teaching degree. It should be interesting. I guess that I should probably order my books though.

Today was my first day off. I went to work until 1:00 p.m. and then I came home. I needed to work on my cousin's graduation gift. That didn't go very well though. I am trying to embroider on some towels but the material kept stretching on me and then the needle would get stuck. I tried a bunch of different stabilizers but nothing was working. So I finally decided to call it a day with that. I am going to try on some of the other stuff tomorrow but I wasn't very happy.

On another note, now that school is out I can kick up my crafting and blogging a notch. Hopefully the rest of my "summer projects" will go better than today went. The only problem that I can foresee with my summer projects is that I feel like I have a lot of time so I tend to think about all other sorts of crafts and such. Oh well, such is the life of a "craftster".

Also, I am trying to get healthier so I am going to try and take a walk for 1/2 hr every day. I started to day and walked around the block. It felt really great. I just hope that I can keep it up. ;)

Anyway, that's all that I can think of at the moment.

Profile Update

So I just updated my profile since it was a suggestion to me from one of my readers. Have questions, leave a comment below.

Crafty Time: Swirly scarf and Craft Warehouse

So on Saturday I was shopping in Boise. It was a lot of fun, partly because I love to shop and partly because I got to go with my aunts.

First off, my parents, Aunt Jewel (who's going to have a baby. YAY!) and I went to the Youth Ranch Distribution Center and got to get stuff by the pound. Which at first I wasn't sure if I should pick anything up but I eventually got over it and found a bunch of cute things. Then we met up with my Aunt Priscilla and Uncle Tom to have lunch. Mom and Dad picked up Emily and Grace from the hotel since Emily had stayed since she still wasn't feeling great, and I went with Jewel. We had Idaho Pizza, which isn't my favorite, but this time it was really good. We ended up talking so long that Grace fell asleep at the table. Then after that Jewel, Priscilla, my Mom and I went to Craft Warehouse.

IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!

No seriously, it was epic. The are like a crack dealer for the crafty people. They have all sorts of crafty things, projects and a plethora of other things. Awesome. It was a lot of fun. They also have examples of neat crafts that other people have done. One of my favorites was the ones with melted crayons. Below is an example. I just thought that it looked really neat. All you have to do is have a canvas, crayons, glue (to hold the crayons), and a hairdryer (or, I have also heard that some people simply set them out in the sun.) But doesn't it look neat?

Anyway, there were a bunch of other crafty things. I also got this frog that "grows" in the water for my Sunday School kids. They're going to love it. It should grow to be about a foot tall or more. I have done some of the grow things before but they have generally been the tiny ones, so this one should be exciting.

One of the other project examples they had was one of those "swirly" scarfs (see picture below). I have been wanting one for a long time, and I heard that they are fairly easy to make so I grabbed two skeins of yarn and decided that I was going to make myself one. I will post a picture of it when I get it finished. Super excited about that and I got some help from Emma, my friend, and I have one half way done and I've only been working on it for about a day. YAY! I can finally have my own swirly scarf!

Anyway, I have finished 3 out of my 4 finals and so I will be done with school soon. Yay! Then I can post a lot more on my blog here and do a lot more crafts.

P.S. So can't you see why Craft Warehouse is addicting???

Up, up and away craftsters.

Boise Music Week Play: South Pacific

So this past weekend I got to go to the Boise Music Week Play and watch South Pacific. It was fun. Usually they are pretty good and this one was good as well. The costumes were great, the singing was great.

Unfortunately, the language wasn't that great. The "Bloody Mary" actor cussed a lot and so did the officer actors. So I wasn't really impressed on that point.

Also, I didn't realize how sensual the play was. I mean really. I guess it was because the movie was just cleaned up a lot. Hmmmm....guess I will just have to be more careful about the things I watch.

It also was somewhat strange that my sister, Emily, was sick. She didn't feel well and probably should have stayed home but she really wanted to see the play. But she is feeling much better now. I think it was mostly just all of the stress since she has to take several big test these last weeks of school.

Speaking of last weeks of school, I am graduating on Friday with my associates in Graphic Design for Digital Media. Yay me!

I did some finals today and they went really well.

Summer Projects

With school being near the end of the semester, summer vacation has been on my mind. Here is a list of the things that I am planning on doing this summer:

*Take two summer classes so that I can get a head start on my teaching degree.

*Sew a queen sized quilt

*Sew a baby gift for my aunt whose baby is due in Oct. (due to the popularity if this blog I am refraining from posting the actual gift as I don't want to ruin the surprise)

*Visit Mount Rushmore

*Attend church camp in Montana (which is going to be awesome!)

*Figure out where to put all my sewing stuff so that it isn't in three (or more) different places

*Drag my drumset out of my closet, set it up, and actually play on it

*Attend as many sewing classes as my schedule permits

*Blog A LOT MORE

Anyway, that's my list of plans for the moment. What's on your schedule? Planning. Trips? Awesome projects? Chillaxing?  Let me know in the comments?

Pinecone Research Opportunity

Pinecone Research is opening registration for new members! Yay!

This is such a great opportunity! I can personally vouch for Pinecone Research. They are a survey company. They pay you three dollars for each survey that you take. They have also recently added a place where you can redeem your "points" that you get for surveys for either a check or a prize.

The only limitation is that there can only be one member per household. But it is still really great.

My problem though is that I usually blow my three-dollar check at the local thrift store. But if you are wise you can certainly save your money for a rainy day. :)
