Coming Soon....

Yay! I am finally going to open an Etsy shop!   I am super excited. Last week my mom went to a ladies meeting and took some of my crafts to sell. I sold four scarves and I have two orders. Which I thought was pretty good for two days. I can't wait until I get a shop open.

Also, in other news I am planning on taking all the Sunday school kids to the park on Saturday so please pray that the weather is nice. I will keep you all posted!

2 Things Everyone Should Know About

Here is a couple of things that I think everyone should know about!

1) TED-Stands for Technology, Engineering & Design. This is a place were engineers and designers and people with big brains or lots of money (often both) come together to discuss new inventions, innovative ideas, and astounding things to think about. Have 15 minutes and want to learn something new? Check out TED. No this isn't a character from Mary Tyler Moore.

   NOT

2) Etsy-this is an amazing website that allows crafty people to sell their homemade stuff online. Some of these people are amazing and have skills that set them above the rest. Need a unique gift? Check out Etsy!

Smokin'

So today I was planning on making pizza for lunch. I have been thinking about making pizza all morning. I was going to come home, get out the bread, sauce, and cheese. It was going to be a really yummy lunch.

I get home (well not my home but the house I am house-sitting) and their house cleaner is there. She is a really nice lady and she's working away. I turn on the oven, get out my ingredients and start making a delicious meal.

Well.........I start to smell something funny but I can't place it. I look over at the oven and there is smoke coming out if it. So the smoke alarms start going off and I am thinking "Uh oh..." So the people I am house sitting for also have a security system and while the smoke alarms are going off the security alarm is too.

It turns out that the cleaning lady had sprayed oven cleaner in the oven. I didn't check the oven before I turned it on so I ended up only burning some cleaner.

To make a long story short, I did get the alarm finally stopped and the security system company called the fire department. The fire department showed up and I could tell that they weren't very impressed. I guess that I wouldn't be either. But I guess they are glad that nothing major was wrong.

So the house stunk and I opened up the windows and I am fine but just for future reference always check the oven before turning it on.

NOTE: Fire in picture not as bad as what actually happened but it could so be aware!

Play Dough

This past weekend I made some play dough for the Sunday School class that I teach. I made some because the ones that my mom had given to us were too hard for the kids to shape and play with. They did play with it but it was hard to form. (It was hard for me!) So I decided that it was time that we had some new play dough.

I used a recipe that I found on the blog It's Gravy Baby! and it was really easy! All I had to do was mix it up in a pot on the stove and viola! play dough. I had a little help from my little sister, Grace, and we made red, blue and green.

BTW It's Gravy Baby! has lots of different ideas for different kinds of play dough! Plus all of her recipes are really fun and easy to make. I would also have to say that her recipes are kid tested since she has children of her own. She also has lots of other ideas for fun crafts for kids.

Here is a picture found on Google (got to love that place!) to give you an idea of homemade play dough (pshhh...as if you haven't seen any!)

Soup of Nothingness

So today in English we are talking about Argumentation. We had to come up with a list of definitions pertaining to what exactly an argument is. Well folks, isn't as easy as you think. Our class came up with a list of 27 different ways to explain and describe an argument.

One of the points that I thought was really interesting was when we talked about arguments having a position (or a side that they agreed with). We stated that an argument had to have different sides to it and your position had to be strong in your argument otherwise it was a "soup of nothingness".

Actually, I think that this particular soup looks pretty good. Okay, no, it looks DELICOUS. But arguments shouldn't be that way.

People need to realize that if their argument isn't as enticing as this soup is. Nobody is going to want to eat it. (Opps, I mean agree with it!)

Funny and Interesting Finds on Wednesday

So today I was looking through the news at MSN and I discovered this video about a man with 20 feet of hair.

I thought that it was kind of funny. Especially since I have longer hair myself. Now, my hair isn't 20 feet long but I thought that this was rather funny! Also, I would have to say that it looks kind of gross! But hey, it least this guy has hobby (washing his hair!).

I also happened upon this clip of a man with 6,000 Barbie dolls. Ha-ha! Just when you thought guys couldn't get any stranger!

Labor Day

I hope that everyone had a happy Labor Day.

If you don't know why Labor Day is a holiday, you seriously need to do some research. It is a pretty interesting piece of American History.

Normally, we "labor" (or work) as my mom calls it on Labor Day. It always seems that we have some kind of big project to do that day. Usually it is a big cleaning day. One year we even built two sheds for the back yard.

Thankfully though, this time we got to attend the fair. The fair usually starts the Thursday before Labor Day and ends on Labor day.

It was strange though, there wasn't that many people. Most buildings and vendors that we went to only had a handful of people. Normally the crowd is thick and you go where the crowd leads you.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the fair. It was nice and I enjoyed spending the time with my family.

Hope yours was just as nice as mine was.

The Great American Vacation Series (Post #3)

Yay! So you have made it this far in the Great American Vacation. I wanted to share a few more pictures with you.

So the last post left off with a picture of some run off water. That area was a big boardwalk in a circle that went through several pools and hot spots.

This next picture is one of the "paint pots" It is really neat because it is very paint like substance. At least it is in the way it looks. I thought that it looked like thick white paint.

This is a closer view of some of the bubbles.

This is another steaming part. It was some red rocks and the next picture is a closer view of a few of them.
I really thought that this one in particular was vastly fascinating because of all the different colors. There was grey, red, orange, yellows, and even a little green.

This is some more steaming rock type places. It was weird though how you could have beautiful forest on one side and barren land with holes that steamed on the other. Such an interesting place.
