Carle the Cat Story Part 6

The next morning Farmer Deere walked to Two-shakes pen. “Oh no!” cried John, “Where is Two-shakes!” as he frantically looked around the farm.

Later that morning Carle wandered to the farm to ask Two-shakes another question. Things started look very strange as Carle got closer to the farm. When he arrived Two-shakes’ pen door was open and only hung on one hinge. It looked as though somebody had tried to break-in! Carle looked around and saw Farmer John out in the fields calling Two-shakes’ name. “Augh!” cried Carle, “I wished I could be a cowboy! I could be so much more helpful if I was human!”

Suddenly there was a huge flash of light that scared Carle. He raced to hide behind a hay bale. “Here kitty, kitty!” came a voice above Carle. Carle looked up and was surprise to see a fairy floating above him. “Whaaaaatttt?” said Carle. “I am here to grant your wish. You are now a cowboy!” the fairy said as she waved her want and POOF! Carle was now a cowboy!

Farmer John Deere turned in for the night and left Two-shakes to stare at the night time sky. Two-shakes sat and wondered about all the mysteries of the universe. He thought about Carle, and why the sky was blue, why grass tasted so good, and why cats were furry. He pondered all these questions for a long time, he supposed that he did this every night because he was so wise. Suddenly Two-shakes heard the gate creak. “Who’s there?” he asked. There was no reply. “Hello?” Two-shakes asked again. He heard foot steps behind him and unexpectedly he felt a strong hand grab him…

“Well…let me ask you question first,” said Two-shakes. “Okay” replied Carle. “Do you like to have the same meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner?” asked the old sheep. “How about going to the same places, the same way every day?” “Well…no, not really.” Said Carle. “It is same way with all the different creatures on this earth,” explained Two-shakes. “Ah…I think I understand now,” said Carle. “We are all different because we need diversity!” “Exactly!” said Two-shakes. Just as he finished saying this Farmer John Deere walked up.
“Hello gentlemen,” Farmer John said as he patted Two-shakes fuzzy head. “What are you two up to?” he asked as he gathered feed for Two-shakes. Not really looking for an answer to his question since he knew animals couldn’t possible talk Farmer John Deere finished his chores as he kept an eye on the two animals. “Well Two-shakes,” he sighed taking his hat off and wiping his brow. “I think that it is time we turn in for the night.” Turning to Carle he said “Goodnight cat.” Carle wandered off as Farmer John petted Two-shakes and looked at the night sky…
